Solar Electric Panels: A Solution to the Expected Energy Crisis?
By Dorothea Witcher

Britain, its people, as well as the modern world are in trouble. On a small scale British homeowners tend to be paying out significantly larger sums for their fundamental energy needs, whilst on a macro level the planet will soon find itself in the midst of an energy crisis which comes from the diminishment of its fossil fuel resources. This article looks at the problem, and examines plausible solutions.

The problem

It has been estimated that by 2015 Britain’s power generating ability could in actual fact be lowered as much as thirty per cent as its fossil fuel and also nuclear energy stations are shut down. Why exactly is this? One particular rationale is that Britain was relatively far ahead of its time when it came to nuclear energy and consequently designed power stations which are at this point becoming more and more hazardous and require decommissioning. Many might question exactly why this is an issue, as surely more might be constructed? The fact is that whilst on paper nuclear power provides a high powered answer to Britain’s and even the world’s energy demands, it is both expensive and increasingly looked at as unpredictable. The recent explosion in Japan for example has seen Germany halt its nuclear programme entirely and it has encouraged other countries to view the energy source with higher mistrust. The second reason why Britain is shortly to encounter an energy crisis is that just like the rest of the world, it’s governed by the reality that there is only a finite quantity of natural resources just like oil coal and gas which can be used. We’re currently discovering the results of this every month with ever escalating utility rates highlighting the increasing scarcity and cost of discovering and unearthing fossil fuels. Prices will continue to increase as demand escalates and supply diminishes. Even though some European countries have committed to going green, they have typically attempted to decrease their use of fossil fuels without at the same time raising their dependence on environmentally friendly technology to the same extent, therefore generating an asymmetry.

The solution

On the broadest of levels the solution is to make use of environmentally friendly and more sustainable technologies. On a far more specific level, the most effective solution at a every day and commercial level could well be working with solar electricity by using solar pv panels. Solar pv panels convert light into electricity which in turn feeds the electrical circuits in the house, company, manufacturing plant or farm. Provided there is light the photo-voltaic cells will function, meaning that they will operate proficiently no matter if it is over cast. These results can be achieved by fitting a solar panel installation to the roof of the proposed building. The main advantages of making this sort of move are evident. Through installing panels you have a consistent supply of solar electric and that means you won’t be shelling out for the electricity you’d commonly be buying from the national grid. There will always be light so long as the sun is present which means that there is absolutely no danger of this power source depleting, as opposed to fossil fuels. Additionally, on an environmental level if more and more people do this then there will be much less pressure on fossil fuels and a true change to a more environmentally friendly power resource may just be engineered. The simple logic behind this sort of a shift and the utilisation of solar panel installations for making solar electricity has been recognised by the Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change who have been tasked with checking out and putting into action technological innovation which will help fix the coming energy crises and environmental effects that follow. If people today do begin using solar panels and solar electricity therefore the energy crisis may very well be weakened and the environment could possibly be helped. In this way solar power and the solar electricity photovoltaic cells generate could be the answer to Britain’s and indeed the world’s energy woes.

The Real Deal With Solar Panels
By Wanda Bashaw

It may seem like installing solar panels is a hype but there is actually a good reason behind all of it. The government has been on a very active position towards reducing the overall carbon emissions of the country and revolutionising the energy efficiency of both residential and commercial properties.

The imminent threat of global warming will result to great devastating effects for everyone on earth. Many countries are presently implementing various laws to reduce their total carbon emissions in the hopes of delaying or stopping global warming. One of the easiest and most beneficial ways of participating in this purpose is by installing solar power systems in your home.

Although solar power systems are not cheap to have fitted in any residential home, the government tries to encourage citizens through government cash-back schemes. There are two kinds of solar panels that produce 2 kinds of energies – the PV solar panels and the solar thermal panels. Both of these two panels have different incentives. Users of PV solar panels will be rewarded through the Feed-in Tariff Scheme while on the other hand, users of the solar thermal panels will gain incentives through the Renewable Heat Incentive.

Residents can have solar power systems installed by borrowing money from the bank or other financial institutions. The more people convert to solar energy for their hot water and electricity requirements, the most carbon dioxide emissions are lessened. It is said that an average household emits 1,693.63 kg of CO2 annually from electricity use. Adopting solar panels for electricity will greatly reduce the carbon footprint of the country.

Both the Feed-in Tariff scheme and Renewable Heat Incentive says that it will pay residents for every unit of power they generate – tax free. The former lasts for 25 years while the latter lasts for 20 years. Through the savings homeowners get from free electricity they produce with the solar panels, their panels will eventually pay for itself.

Apart from that, residents will be free from the headaches and money problems they experience from the rising costs of energy. Homeowners will be able to allot their money for something much more important.

Installing solar panels in your home is intended to reduce the carbon emissions of the UK and at the same time, provide homeowners an alternative source of clean and renewable energy. For the sake of a better world, similar legislations have also been implemented by other countries. Hopefully, the world and the future generations will be blessed with a better environment.

The use of solar power gives citizens and the world a lot of benefits. If you are interested, contact your trusted solar panel installers for more information regarding feed in tariff.

Why We Need Alternative Power Sources
By Thord Hall

Alternative Power Sources Are Needed Now

One of the most obvious reasons that it has become necessary to search for alternative power sources is the fact that over ninety percent of world’s energy is produced from coal, oil and natural gas, and these energy sources are running low.

A major portion of these energy sources are used as fuel for transportation, heating and to run electricity generating turbines. Not only are these resources becoming depleted, they are a danger to the climate and our environment. alternative power sources are not just a good replacement for the decreasing supply of fossil fuels, they are necessary for the survival of our planet.

Given the situation of today’s climate crisis, it is logical that more and more research and implementation of alternative power sources not only continue, but be given top priority.

The Truth About Alternative Power Sources

The “climate crisis” and “global warming” are real. The evidence is overwhelming and hard to ignore.

We do not have to look very hard to find evidence of global warming or to realize that the world is facing a real climate crisis. Former vice president Al Gore has written a couple of informative and eye-opening books on the subject, which also point out how each of us contribute to the effects of global warming.

However, each of us also have the ability to be part of the solution. Simple decisions regarding things we purchase, the cars we buy and drive everyday, how much electricity we use and how we generate it can have a great impact on our environment. Research into alternative power sources has made it much more possible than ever before for concerned homeowners to take positive steps to help reverse the effects of global warming.

So many homeowners today are interested in finding alternative power sources that are affordable and can effectively help the environment at the same time. A good starting point is to find out more about implementing solar and/or wind power to create electricity for your home.

Research in these areas has made it possible for homeowners to easily convert their homes with self-sustaining and environmentally friendly energy sources. Do-It-Yourself projects like making your own solar panels or building your own wind turbine are becoming increasingly popular. Considering the state of or environment and the rate that our living costs are rising, now is a good time to act.

If you are a homeowner looking for solutions and a better way to power your home, there is a great informative guide called The Earth4Energy Guide. It is quite simply the most effective and user friendly guide for building your own alternative power sources on the market right now. So, if saving money and the environment interests you, visit the alternative power sources site and check out the complete Earth4Energy guide now.

Before You Invest in Home Solar Electricity, There are a Couple Things You Need to Know

Author: Gary

It has become a lot more cost effective to use home solar electricity these days than it did when alternative energy became popular over 10 years ago. The government is getting involved as well, offering tax rebates to households that convert to home solar electricity. There are even grant programs for those who may not be able to afford a professionally installed solar panel system to use to purchase the home solar electricity utilities. You can purchase everything you need from a Green Energy certified supplier. Green Energy companies deal solely with utilities that use renewable energy such as solar electricity, hydroelectricity and wind electricity. Before you go out purchasing you home solar electricity system you are going to need to find out you power demands.

Ok, first things first. You need to figure out just how much home solar electricity you are going to need from your system. Different solar panels and solar panel setups will give you varying amount of solar electricity. Start monitoring your electricity usage now and begin determining what your electricity demand is going to be. You should take the average over the course of a year and take into account the spikes in the summer and winter seasons

When you decide it is time to invest in a solar panel system to supply your home solar electricity, it is a good idea to well research the products. Efficiency isn’t always the number one choice. A solar panel system that offers 13% efficiency over a lifetime warranty is going to be far more efficient than a solar panel system that offers 15% efficiency with a one year warranty. You can also speak to people who are already using home solar electricity to learn more about what works best and what doesn’t. If you do decide to hire professional installers instead of learning how to build your own solar panel, take the time to research the company and ask for references so you an ask previous customers about their experiences.

The last thing you are going to have to figure out is what type of solar panel system you are going to want to supply your home solar electricity. There are three kinds of solar panel systems used to supply home solar electricity. A grid-tied system is where your solar panels are tied into your current power meter. So you are using both the solar panel system to supply your home solar electricity and then the main power company is backing that up with its electricity. The next system for supplying home solar electricity is called a grid-tie with battery backup. This system collects the solar electricity storing it in batteries and then sending any excess electricity back to the power company through the meter. Lastly, you have the stand-alone system. Exactly the same principle as the grid-tie with battery backup but instead of having the power company involved, you are 100% disconnected and supplying all of your power.

Always educate yourself first before investing in anything. Switching to home solar electricity is an investment and you will see a definite return on investment over time. And as always, don’t forget the great feeling it is going to bring when you see you power bill turn into $0 by converting to home solar electricity.

Introduction to Solar Energy-The Basics
By Jerry Standefer

Solar energy can best be defined as light transmitted from the sun, which can be used for solar heating, solar photovoltaic’s, and solar water heating. Solar energy also can be referred to as radiation energy that can be used for everyday human needs such as electricity, heat, and building technologies. Let us look at these different types of solar energy we use today.

Solar Heating – There is many variations of this type of heating in use today. As we strive for new means of heating our homes and business, there comes along solar heating. Heating our homes by means of reflective metal or mirrors is a reality. By heating outside air using the energy from the sun we can redirect the heated air through duct work like a forced air furnace basically works. This means of using the power of the sun is a simple way to heat our homes during day light hours, subsidizing our energy cost.

Solar Voltaic – This use of the sun is becoming the most popular way to generate electricity versus other means that use our planets depleting fossil fuels. Through the use of solar cells which are made into solar panels we can produce environmentally safe energy. A solar cell or solar photovoltaic cell is a solid state electrical device that converts the suns light energy to electricity. A group of these cells form a solar panel that collects the solar light energy from the sun to produce electricity. A group of solar panels needed to power a house or business is called a solar array. There are other components used to make up a solar panel system which involve changing the current to useable household current but this will give you an idea of how a system is designed. Other uses of this type of technology is used in such devices as solar yard lights, solar exhaust fans, and photo eyes used to control outdoor lighting.

Solar Water Heating – Solar water heating has been used for many years by many European countries and is well established as a viable means of heating water. There are basically two types of systems in use today, a closed system, and a system that pumps the hot water. First, let us look at the closed loop system that has a capture tank mounted above the radiant coils, usually mounted on the roof. By using a series of tubes facing the sun the water will heat and be moved to the storage tank by what is known as “thermo siphoning”,which is the same principle as hot air raising. By using our existing water pressure the tank mounted on the roof will feed when needed my turning on a faucet. The system which uses a small pump to circulate the water can be mounted just about any convenient location facing the sun. This is what is known as an open system because of the use of an external or auxiliary pump. The holding tank for this system can be mounted at ground level. This system is used mainly for larger systems needing more water storage.

Solar Architecture – The use of building design where walls, windows, and floors are made to collect heat from solar energy is called passive solar building design. This type of building design does not use mechanical or electrical devices. House can be designed to store heat in the winter and reject heat in the summer. The principle of this solar design is to position windows facing south during the winter sun, and to have shading during the warm summer months. This type of construction is mainly for newer homes but can be applied to or adapted to existing homes and businesses. All this can be achieved by the use of stone, concrete, and tile to produce what is known as thermo mass.

There are many other new discoveries being used to harness the power of the sun, one which I did not mention above but involves the use of a large magnifying glass concentrating solar energy on a spot, producing very high temperatures. The use of this type of heat is almost endless.

The basic of solar energy is just the first in a series of articles that I will publish on uses of solar technology.

The Benefits of a Home Solar Power System
By James A T Bratley

There are many benefits of installing a home solar power system and this article aims to explain these different benefits. Making use of the suns energy to provide power for our homes is both environmentally friendly and affordable.

The main benefit of installing a solar power system is that it provides a means of generating clean and free electricity for your home. This can help to reduce or even eliminate monthly energy bills in some cases. Although you have to be sure your investment will pay back over the years of operation, many people are able to achieve this through reduced energy bills.

Not only can solar panels save you money on your energy bills, they can also be a source of income. Some countries provide incentives for homeowners to install solar panel systems to their home in order to improve their carbon footprint. These incentives are sometimes in the form of “feed in tariffs” which enable you to sell any excess electricity back to the national electricity network. For some people, this has proved to bring in a source of income.

Solar power systems for the home can help to reduce the carbon footprint of an individual or family. In today’s modern environment where most families have a car and many household appliances, this step is key to protecting the environment for future generations. For more environmentally focused homeowners, the installation of a home solar power system shows they are doing their part to help curb their carbon footprint. This can be merely a status symbol for some people whilst for others it can mean much more and provide a sense of wellbeing.

In today’s modern climate there is a much higher demand for fossil fuels than in previous generations. A prime example of this is oil as we continue to see its price rise on global markets as demand increases. Although a home solar power system is unlikely to make you immune to increases in global demand for fossil fuel based products, it can help to reduce your dependency on such products as energy prices are directly linked to fluctuations in gas and oil prices.

Overall, there are many benefits to installing a solar power system to your home. Should you decide to go ahead with such project then it’s always advisable that you seek professional advice on the system that’s most suited to your area or requirements.

How to Make Solar Electricity
By Giovanni Pugliese

The importance of knowing how to make solar electricity out of the world’s most powerful energy supplier must be regarded with paramount consideration. Most people tend to forget that this planet has the Sun, one of the alternative sources of power supply that provides limitless FREE energy. In these days, it is an undeniable fact that everything seems to be inter-connected with the use of electricity. In short, humans are very dependent 24/7 on the power grid!

Every responsible and concerned individual is aware of the existence of a global economic crisis. This has affected all nations, no matter how powerful they are, so much more with the Third World countries. Saving for the rainy days, as the wise sages say, is everybody’s concern. When it comes to saving money, minimizing cost of electrical bill is most often the first on the list. This can be easily done when everyone cooperates, be it at home or at the workplace.

Now, everybody has to watch each other’s back such as turning off lights, appliances and other gadgets when these are left unattended or not in any way utilized for any fruitful purpose. The idea surely sounds funny though, but effective although this will become a taxing task for everyone sooner or later. Finding a costless power supply is one practical solution to the issue which would certainly allow SAVINGS in terms of:

(1) effort in watching after one another;

(2) time in doing what someone else has failed to do; and

(3) money for the grid consumption.

Transformation of Solar Energy to Electricity

The sun-harnessed energy can be transformed to electricity due to a natural process which is known as photovoltaic effect. This is an energy transformation phase which is inherent in solar panel materials. How to make solar electricity work is simply knowing and understanding the construction of the photovoltaic cells, with the application of course of the basic knowledge on electrical circuitry. If ever you do not possess any know-how on this area, then it would be best if you seek the assistance of a qualified electrician.

Can you get the picture? You have a solar panel that allows you to enjoy the use of all electrically powered gadgets such as the big screened television set, personal computer, smartphone, and a lot more, without the threat of sudden power interruption. In case you have huge appliances that need tremendous amount of electrical power consumption, then it is just logical for you to construct an alternative power source at an equal proportion to ensure sufficient supply of electricity. Simple mathematics!

Always bear in mind that it is imperative to quantify things to avoid frustration. It is not enough to build an alternative power source just because you need electricity. You must always consider your estimated amount of electrical usage otherwise you would experience power shortage. For sure you would never want to lose unsaved data on the computer you are working on at the moment of power fluctuations or outages. Truly disappointing if that happens, isn’t it?

Important Things to Remember

At this point in time, you are presumed to know how to make solar electricity run effectively in your home or office. To summarize things, you need to remember these simple tips:

Make solar panels proportionate to your needs.

The best place to expose your solar panels is on the rooftop of your house or building.

Make sure there are no obstructions for them to get ample exposure to sunlight

Install strategically the needed electrical wiring, outlets, and other contrivances in the areas of your home or building for easy and convenient use.

Maintain good battery storage. This is an indispensable tool where you can keep or store the collected solar energy for future use. The storage battery comes very useful during winter, rainy days and when the weather prevents the Sun from emitting its rays.

Enjoy the benefits of your unbilled electrical consumption!

I provide an information website that explains and educates the importance of switching over to Green Energy production for your home. Not only does it save you a bundle on your monthly electrical bill, but you are also doing our planet a favor. Our sun provides an infinite amount of energy, why not use it?

Using Solar Energy
By Giovanni Pugliese

Homeowners must realize the benefits of using solar energy. Practically, there are myriads of advantages in utilizing the sun-harnessed power. There is no need for you to look around or go to another place just to enjoy pure, clean and costless power supply because it is all over the planet. Even if you live under the Earth’s surface as long as you know how to collect sunlight, your life is still fruitful.

Why use Sun energy?

The following are some of the benefits of using solar energy:

 Financial Advantage

Sunlight comes to Earth for FREE! You don’t pay anything to the Sun and it doesn’t collect any amount of money from you for the use of its energy. In short, sun-harnessed power spells out more savings. Money saved is truly something and can dispel financial worries.

Ultimately, solar electricity is more affordable than buying it from the utility company. While it is undeniably true that there is a start up cost for constructing or buying solar panels, but then you will realize that your initial expense for the photovoltaic frames will come out to be cost-efficient.

By the time you reach a break-even point, everything after that is deemed as profit. You can readily compare this to paying your monthly electrical bill and getting ZERO return on investment (ROI).

 Renewable

There is nothing to worry about using up all the sunlight or running out of it. The Sun provides this planet with unlimited and constant power source every day the whole year round. According to NASA, the Yellow Star can provide the planet Earth with boundless energy until 5 billion years. This is almost eternity!

With the help of energy-catching devices and proper storage battery, you get sufficient power supply. Perhaps, it’s time to consider buying photovoltaic frames if your means allow you to do so or simply learn how to make solar panels for more savings to enjoy this renewable energy.

 Environment Friendly

Sun-harnessed energy offers tremendous benefits to all forms of living beings: plants, animals and humans. Here are some reasons why solar energy is considered environment friendly:

1. Non-toxic

Collecting sunlight and using it by means of solar panels do not pollute the environment. It does not vent any toxic element unlike fossil fuels which carcinogenic gases like carbon dioxide. Because of these ecological pollutants, global warning has set into this planet.

People can help preserve the Earth and diminish, if not eradicate totally global warming, only when every homeowner uses this form of alternative power source to run all electrical appliances and gadgets in their respective home.

2. Silent Ecological Benefactor

A photovoltaic cell does not produce annoying sound while collecting energy. It is noiseless thus a non-nuisance. You may not be aware of the fact that noise is also a form of pollutant – noise pollution – that can cause discomfort and inconvenience.

So far, there is no other renewable energy source that is completely silent. Solar energy is a silent ecological benefactor!

 Grid Independence

Install energy-catching units at home and enjoy an off-grid living. It is true that these alternate power generators can be costly, and that is when you buy the ready-to-install units. Why buy when you can learn how to make solar panels? You can search on the internet for websites that offer DIY solar panel construction kits at very affordable price.

For you to enjoy the costless, renewable and eco-friendly sun-power to the maximum level, you can always resort to the installation of photovoltaic panels for your home. These energy collectors are extremely dependable – rain or shine – day in and day out!

Furthermore, since solar panels are securely built and intact with no moving parts, you have nothing to worry about replacement parts. These require very minimal maintenance and almost maintenance-free! Most of all, you need not worry anymore about the regular pricey utility bill because you are already off the grid.

There is nothing more safe, pure and clean than using solar energy for your home. What are you waiting for? Help preserve planet Earth with this form of renewable energy.

I provide an information website that explains and educates the importance of switching over to Green Energy production for your home. Not only does it save you a bundle on your monthly electrical bill, but you are also doing our planet a favor. Our sun provides an infinite amount of energy, why not use it?

Living Off the Grid With an Alternative Energy System
By Jethro Cobb

Living Off the Grid – What does that mean?

Sometimes when we hear living of the grid, we envision living on a farm with no electricity, lights, or modern appliances. Some people may wish to live in that manner. However, when I say living off the grid, I simply mean that we can live without relying 100% on the normal power grid. We can get very close to 0% on the normal power grid, if we can find an alternative method to generate electricity.

Alternative Methods to Generate Electricity.

There are many alternative methods to generate electricity. The most widely used methods are solar, wind, water, and thermal. The easiest to set-up yourself for use at your home are solar and wind. These would generate a direct low voltage which would be converted to usable house current (alternating current – AC). A complete alternative energy system is automated and would also include a series of batteries to store energy to be used when the direct source is not available.

Purchase an Energy Monitor.

Most energy systems that would allow you to live off the grid, would have an Energy Monitor. The monitor willing show the direct energy generated, the energy being used, the energy stored, and (in some parts of the country) the energy being put back into the grid.

I suggest that you purchase an energy monitor, if one is not included with your system. This may help reviewing what items are using more electricity than others. Because the cost of electricity may vary over time, you can include information from your monitor in your periodic review.

Sizing Your Alternative Energy System.

It is very important that you do a complete Energy Audit before trying to live off the grid. You still have all the electronic gadgets and appliances that you wish, as long as your energy system is larger enough to handle your needs. You will need to come to a good balance between cutting back usage, cutting out usage, and the size of your energy system

Please Remember.

Please also remember to do the following: recycling of their own trash, support leaders who will work for the Environment, educate yourself on the issues and the possible solutions, select a Green group and join them, and make your own energy.

Make your own Solar Panels.

Would it be nice to think. Here you are with a home made solar system, generating power that will be stored in deep cell batteries for future consumption. And all of this costs just pennies on the dollar! You will have subscribe to the home made solar DIY kit and then begin to experience of making the energy generating kit at home. The DIY instructional manual and videos are easy to understand so that even a beginner will be able to understand.

Author: Munxiz

Want to build a generator? Before you get started you will want to do some research. Where possible read about all the possible generator options available and make a decision about which is going to suit you best according to your needs and abilities.

So what are the most popular projects to consider if you want to build your own generator?

1. Wind Generators are by far the easiest.

Thousands of homes are taking advantage of wind turbines to generate a portion of the power for their homes. The advantages of these systems is that they are very inexpensive to manufacture and require little or no diy experience. There are hundreds of plans available online and all the required components are easily found in a local hardware store.

2. Solar Energy Generators are more efficient.

Over the last decade solar energy has become mainstream and as a result the components required to build your own have become more easily available. The manufacture of these devices requires a little more diy experience, but there are some excellent step by step instructions available online that will guide just about anyone through the process. The cost of building these devices ranges, but one can consider getting all the components for around $200 (less if you are research alternatives to new components).

3. Magnetic Generators are reliable and don’t require specific weather conditions.

In 1990, an instruction manual was published explaining how to build a magnetic generator for domestic application. At the time, the components were very difficult to locate and the system was designed by engineers for engineers.

On 29th May 2009, an additional manual for magnetic generators was launched to the public. This manual was written for the diy enthusiast and included step by step instructions on how to manufacture a perpetual motion magnetic generator. Since its launch, other groups have launched additional manuals and there has been a huge interest in the number of people buying and using these instruction manuals.

These generators are compact, relatively easy to manufacture, work irrelevant of weather conditions and are extremely easy to maintain. They generate more energy than they require to run and that energy is clean and free and can be used to run your home.

Always look for a money back guarantee.

The greatest advantage of all of these manuals is that they all include a money back guarantee which means that if you are not completely satisfied with the manual, you can return it. Records show that the return rate for the top magnetic generator manual is less than 6%, with sales in the tens of thousands monthly. It is advisable to always look for generator manuals that offer a money back guarantee to ensure that are getting what you paid for. If not, take your money back and look elsewhere.
